This itinerary is designed for travelers with limited time in Paris, either on a layover or a short trip. It maximizes efficiency while showcasing the city’s key attractions and experiences.
Things To Note
- Travelers flying into Paris have two airport options: Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) & Orly Airport (ORY).
- Euros are the main currency. ATMs are widely available, but it’s good to bring some cash for emergencies and small purchases.
- While tipping is not mandatory, it’s appreciated for good service. Around 10% of the bill is customary at restaurants, and smaller amounts for taxi drivers and hotel staff. Some restaurants may include service charge, so check your bill.
- Paris is well-connected with public transport. The metro is the most efficient way to get around, and buses and trams also offer good coverage. Single tickets are affordable, but consider a Paris Visite travel card for unlimited travel on public transport within your chosen zone. Uber and Taxis are available but can be expensive.
- French is the official language, but many Parisians speak English, especially in tourist areas.Learning a few basic French phrases will be appreciated by locals and enhance your experience.
- Museums and stores have varying opening hours. Most museums are closed on Mondays, and some have free entry on the first Sunday of the month. Shops generally close for lunch from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
- Paris is generally safe, but be aware of petty theft in crowded areas like tourist attractions and public transport. Keep your valuables secure and stay vigilant.
- Pack comfortable shoes as you’ll be doing a lot of walking.
- Bring a water bottle and reusable bags to reduce plastic waste.
- Don’t be afraid to explore beyond the tourist hotspots and discover hidden gems.
- Relax and enjoy the Parisian atmosphere!
